SceneForge Studio Performance Notes
As with any 3D application or game, getting a steady framerate is important to a smooth experience. SceneForge is constantly being worked on to ensure a high level of optimization for all platforms, but there are still some things you can do to optimize your experience.
Stage Mode
Stage Mode is the most taxing/heavy mode of the app because that's where most of the editing is being done! That's why you may see lower framerates when in this mode, as opposed to Shoot or Storyboard.
To improve performance, you can disable certain effects using the little effects settings menu on the left.
You can also open a framerate monitor from this window, which may be useful.
These options do not affect the cameras' view, or Shoot Mode, and are only useful when editing your scene.
Framerate Settings
You can also set the target framerate for the entire application in the Editor Settings popup window. This is useful if SceneForge is using a lot of GPU power and you want to limit the app to only use 60FPS (for example).
You can also enable V-Sync, limiting the framerate to that of your display (Recommended).
Rendering and Recording
To save on performance (and output quality) it is recommended that you don't use "Realtime Record" as that will slow down the editor while you are trying to record camera motion.
Instead, render out your video using the Rendering Menu once you are finished editing.
The speed of rendering depends on the resolution, bitrate, and other video settings.
